Ich bin Professor für Erziehungswissenschaft an der Katholischen Hochschule Nordrhein-Westfalen in Köln am Fachbereich Gesundheitswesen seit dem Sommersemester 2019. Mein Forschungs- und Arbeitsschwerpunkt ist Mediendidaktik insbesondere im Kontext der Lehrendenbildung für Pflege- und Gesundheitsberufe. Dabei wecken immer wieder digitale Plattformen in sozialen Online-Umgebungen mein Interesse, die für formale Lern- sowie für informelle Aneignungsprozesse herangezogen werden.

Zuvor habe ich die Professur für Mediendidaktik an der Pädagogischen Hochschule Heidelberg vertreten und war Postdoc am Learning Lab der Universität Duisburg-Essen. Dort habe ich als Teamleitung in vielen Entwicklungs-, Forschungs- und Digitalisierungsprojekte in den Bildungsbereichen Schule, Hochschule, berufliche Bildung sowie Erwachsenenbildung betreut. Außerdem bin ich freiberuflich tätig in Konzeption und Entwicklung webbasierter Bildungsangebote sowie als Dozent in der Erwachsenenbildung.

Mein Studium der Philosophie, Informations- und Medienwissenschaft habe ich an der Heinrich-Heine-Universität Düsseldorf absolviert mit einem Auslandssemester an der Nantes Université. In Düsseldorf habe ich auch meine Promotion mit einer Arbeit über das Thema des menschlichen Leidens in den Philosophien von Arthur Schopenhauer, Sören Kierkegaard, Friedrich Nietzsche und Max Scheler abgeschlossen.

In meiner Arbeit sowie privat bin ich eifriger Emacs-Nutzer und code auch u.a. in Lisp und Perl. Ich fotografiere gerne Landschaften, Tiere, Straßen und Städte überwiegend in Schwarz-Weiß mit digitalen Systemkameras. Zudem bin ich leidenschaftlicher Fahrradfahrer in der Kölner Bucht und hege hier auch einen privaten Garten.

I am Professor of Educational Studies at the Catholic University of Applied Sciences North Rhine-Westphalia in Cologne at the Department of Health Care since the summer term 2019. My research and work focus is media didactics, especially in the context of teacher training for nursing and health care professions. In this context, digital platforms in online social environments always catch my interest, as they are used for formal learning as well as for informal acquisition processes.

Previously, I represented the professorship for media didactics at the Heidelberg University of Education and worked as a postdoc at the Learning Lab of the University of Duisburg-Essen. There I managed many development, research and digitisation projects as a team leader in the educational sectors of school, higher education, vocational training and adult education. I also work as a freelancer in the design and development of web-based educational services and as a lecturer in adult education.

I studied philosophy, information and media science at the Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf with a semester abroad at Nantes University. I also completed my doctorate in Düsseldorf with a thesis on the topic of human suffering in the philosophies of Arthur Schopenhauer, Sören Kierkegaard, Friedrich Nietzsche and Max Scheler.

In my work and private life, I am an eager Emacs user and also code in Lisp and Perl, among other languages. I like to photograph landscapes, animals, streets and cities, mainly in black and white, with DSLR cameras. I am also a passionate cyclist in the Cologne Bay area and also cultivate a private garden here.
